NEIGHBOURHOOD Weekender returns to Victoria Park this weekend.

Tonight, Friday, will see My Chemical Romance embark on the Latchford Park before the festival properly gets under way tomorrow, Saturday.

Below we round up what both revellers and residents can expect.

Who is playing at Neighbourhood Weekender this year?

The three headliners are Courteeners, Blossoms and Kasabian across the weekend.

Other big names include DMA's, Pale Waves, Tom Grennan and Manic Street Preachers.

Altogether there are 54 acts playing in two days.

Why is Neighbourhood Weekender back in May?

The festival has returned to its normal course following the coronavirus pandemic.

It had to take place from September 3 – 5 last year following the ease of lockdown restrictions but it can now return to its May date.

How many stages are there at Neighbourhood Weekender 2022?

Three – the Main Stage, The Big Top and the Viola Beach Stage.

What other entertainment is there?

Visit The Neighbourhood Inn for a quick pint, or head to The Corner Shop to dance while the DJ throws out sweets, crisps and other treats.

Also for the second year, there is a silent disco in The Library.

You can also tie the knot at the Inflatable Church during the weekend.

What time do gates open and close?

On Saturday and Sunday, gates open at midday and curfew is 10.30pm.

It is a non-camping event.

Where do you park for Neighbourhood Weekender?

Please be aware there is no car parking on site. Festival car parking is located at Sir Thomas Boteler School and is accessed via Wash Lane (follow festival signage). This is also the pick up/drop off site.

The car park is a five to 10 minute walk from the festival site.

Car parking tickets must be bought in advance and you can get them in the same way as entry tickets. Just click on the day or days you are going and add car parking ticket (£11.25 per day or £22 for the weekend) to your order.

Using public transport is encouraged though. Victoria Park is about a 20-minute walk from Warrington Bank Quay station and Warrington Central train stations.

Or by bus, the Number 11 and 11a services stop at Knutsford Road Victoria Park. It takes five minutes from Warrington Bus Interchange.

Entering the festival site

At the gate, you will find the box office for any queries and the ticket scanning lanes. Take your print out issued by your ticket agent which will be exchanged for a wristband. All bags will be searched.

Do I need to bring cash for Neighbourhood Weekender?

The bars and most of the food outlets are operating on a cashless basis again so make sure you bring a card.

Limited food outlets will be accepting cash and there will be no cash machines on site.

What can't I bring in with me to Neighbourhood Weekender?

  • Bags 'bigger than an A4 piece of paper' will not be allowed and backpacks cannot be brought in.
  • Illegal substances – a pretty obvious one but drugs are banned as are legal highs
  • Glass (of any kind) or cans
  • Spray cans
  • Laser equipment or pens
  • Gas canisters
  • Fireworks, flares, Chinese lanterns, klaxons or air horns
  • Bikes, skateboards, scooters, roller blades, personal motorised vehicles (unless a Motability scooter)
  • Large umbrellas or parasols of any kind
  • Chairs of any sort
  • Food and drink – No food or drink is permitted to be brought into the event apart from a sealed bottle of water
  • Medication – Please bring any medication that you would normally take and tell your friends about any allergies that you have. Medication can be safely stored and refrigerated at the event First Aid point on-site if required and all medication must be self-administered
  • Animals – Animals, with the exception of assistance dogs, are not permitted at any time.

Are there any age restrictions for Neighbourhood Weekender?

All under 16s must be accompanied by an adult and have their own ticket. Under fives are not permitted.

What is the traffic plan?

The festival will see a number of routes in Latchford, Howley and Warrington town centre shut between 9am on Friday, May 27, and 1am on Monday, May 30.

Some will be accessible by permit holders only – while Bridge Foot, Bridge Street, Mersey Street, Wash Lane, Vernon Street and a section of Knutsford Road will be fully closed between 10pm and 11.30pm on the three days of the festival in order to allow revellers to leave the site safely.

A Temporary Prohibition of Driving and Clearway Order will be in place in the residential streets around Victoria Park, except for resident permit holders, between 9am and 1am, from Saturday, May 28 to Monday, May 30.

A Temporary Prohibition of Driving Order will also be in place between 10pm and 11.30pm on Friday, May 27, Saturday, May 28 and Sunday, May 29. 

Affected roads include:

  • Bridgefoot
  • Knutsford Road – from its junction with Grange Avenue to its junction with Wilderspool Causeway
  • Halla Way
  • Mersey Street (northbound) – from its junction with Bridge Street to its junction with Academy Street
  • Mersey Street (southbound) – from its junction with Church Street to its junction with Wharf Street
  • Warrington Bridge
  • Warrington New Bridge
  • Wharf Street – from its junction with Mersey Street to its junction with Vernon Street
  • Wilderspool Causeway – from its junction with Park Boulevard to its junction with Warrington Bridge
  • Wilson Patten Street - from its junction with Bridgefoot to its junction with Slutchers Lane

Alternative routes will be available on Priestley Street, Froghall Lane, Midland Way, Manchester Road, Kingsway North, Kingsway South, Liverpool Road, Parker Street, Slutchers Lane, Chester Road, Walton New Road, and Walton Road.

What is the advice for residents?

If you live near Victoria Park, make sure you display your resident parking permit in your vehicles for the duration of the festival.

If you have any issues with your parking permit, or haven’t yet received your permit and you live within the resident parking zone, you can visit the box office on site for advice.

The office will be open from 8am to 8pm in the week leading up to the festival. Please take proof of address with you.

A designated resident’s number for any noise concerns has been set up with the event organiser.
