SAINSBURY’s has opened a new store in Woolston.

The retail giant’s new convenience store on Manchester Road, in the former Woolston Car Centre unit, opened its doors to customers yesterday, Thursday.

Warrington Guardian:

Its 3,014sq ft branch will be available to shoppers between 7am and 11pm daily and has its own car park with 17 spaces.

A total of 20 staff are employed at the Sainsbury’s Local, 14 of which are new to the company.

Warrington Guardian:

Sainsbury’s property director Patrick Dunne said: “Ever since our plans to bring a new Sainsbury’s Local to Woolston were approved in 2020, we’ve been working hard to see them through.

“I’m delighted with the end result, which is a bright, fresh convenience store that will put more customers in Warrington within easy reach of Sainsbury’s great value, high quality products.”

Warrington Guardian:

The store, which is located at the junction with New Cut Lane, also boasts a Costa Coffee machine and will act as a click and collect point for Argos, Habitat and Tu Clothing products.

Sainsbury’s will be donating surplus stock to the Warrington Foodbank through the new location, with chief executive David McDonald having been present at the opening ceremony.

Warrington Guardian:

Store manager Simon Fleury added: “This is a proud moment for my team and I as we take the opportunity to showcase our brilliant service and products to our new customers for the first time.

“We can’t wait to hear what the community thinks of their new store, and we look forward to serving and helping them for years to come.”
