AN investigation is under way after a fire broke out in Warrington town centre this morning.

Two fire engines were called to the scene on Museum Street shortly before midday today, Thursday.

All persons in the affected house have been accounted for, with the road having been partially closed while firefighters dealt with the incident.

A Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: “At 11.50am on May 26, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to reports of a fire in a residential property within a building on Museum Street.

“Two fire engines, from Warrington and Penketh, attended.

“The fire was extinguished using two firefighters in breathing apparatus and one hose reel.

“Crews have ventilated the property using a large fan and are now damping down and using a thermal imaging camera to check for any hotspots.

“All persons within the affected property have been accounted for.

“An investigation into the cause of the fire is under way.”
