POLICE are appealing for information after a 15-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at a bus stop on one of the town’s busiest roads.

The teenager was waiting at the stop on Winwick Road near to the Winwick Quay pub and the footbridge over the A49 at around 10.30am on Thursday, April 21, when she was approached by her attacker.

He spoke to the victim and briefly walked away before returning again, ‘inappropriately touching her’ and attempting to push her towards his Mercedes A100 car then driving away.

Cheshire Police say the offender was white, of a slim build and aged in his 20s and was wearing ‘work-style trousers’ and a beige, oversized t-shirt.

Detective constable Rachel Williams said: “The girl was on her own when the man approached her.

“Despite making it clear she didn’t want to speak to him, he continued to engage with her and touched her inappropriately which understandably left her shaken.

“She did the right thing in reporting it to officers straight away.

“As part of the investigation, I am appealing to members of the public to come forward with information that could lead to the identity of this man.

“Perhaps you were in the area at the time or live nearby with CCTV or dashcam footage that shows a man matching this description.

“If this is the case, I would ask you to please get in touch with us.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the force on 101, quoting incident number IML1251000, or to call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
