AN ‘assortment’ of weapons including guns were seized by police following a raid in Orford.

Cheshire Police executed a warrant at an address on Long Lane on Friday.

Once inside, officers say they discovered a small cannabis farm was in operation, and they also seized a range of weapons.

A man was arrested for drug and weapon offences and has since been released under investigation.

A force spokesman said: “At around 3pm on Friday, May 13, police executed a warrant at an address on Long Lane in Orford.

“A small cannabis farm and three rifles were located inside the property.

“A 54-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of cultivating a cannabis plant and possession of an offensive weapon.

“He has since been released under investigation.”

In an update, the force’s Warrington Police team added: “Our north neighbourhood team executed a warrant in which we recovered a quantity of drugs and an assortment of weapons.

“The Offensive Weapons Act 2019 makes it an offense to possess a variety of weapons, even in private.

“Weapons like these can end up in the wrong hands, so it is important you check your attics and sheds and safely discard anything that may fall foul of the law.

“As part of Operation Sceptre, we will be collecting any unwanted knives at various locations throughout Warrington this week.”
