A PADGATE woman is organising an exciting party - which will include a DJ and even petting ponies - to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee.

Jacqui Hampson had the idea of organising a small community party as her house backs onto Oakwood Primary School’s field – a school which she and her family all attended.

Jacqui decided to ask the school’s head teacher Gary Cunningham if she could use the field and also applied for a road closure for Steel Street which runs adjacent to the field.

After securing the field and road closure, Jacqui decided to book a DJ and the small community party turned into more of an event.

And now with under three weeks to go, the event is proving to be popular.

Jacqui has organised bouncy castles, petting ponies, a burger van, ice cream, a face painter, stalls, games, and many other things.

Oakwood Primary School will also be lending tables and chairs for the event.

Jacqui is also organising a tombola and any money raised will go towards paying for portaloos, a DJ and bunting - with any leftover funds going to the primary school.

The event is free entry and people are able to reserve tables and chairs free of charge beforehand.

There will also be a prize for the best-decorated table.

Jacqui is on the lookout for possible performers or bands to play at the event in the meantime.
