FIREFIGHTERS were called out to save a stranded seagull this afternoon, Monday.
One fire engine and the rope rescue unit from Lymm Fire Station were dispatched to Park Lane to attend the neighbouring Appleton Reservoir at 12.06pm.
On arrival at the scene, crews discovered that a seagull was snagged by fishing line which had then caught onto a high voltage power line above the water.
Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service worked alongside an RSPCA officer and the electricity supply company, which turned off the power supply to enable the rescue.
Thankfully, firefighters were able to release the trapped seagull using an inflatable pathway.
