THE council has revealed why cameras were installed in areas of south Warrington last week.

They were first reported on Lumb Brook Bridge, but it has now been confirmed that they were just temporary and have been removed.

Warrington Borough Council said they were for a turning count survey to determine traffic flow in the area.

A spokesperson said: “In areas of Stretton and Stockton Heath cameras were installed temporarily for one week for a turning count survey, which gathers data to determine traffic flow in the area.

“The survey recorded data between 7am–10am and 3pm–7pm on behalf Homes England, as part of the Local Plan Strategy Report.”

Homes England has occupied various sites in south Warrington over the last few years.

In 2019, they appointed Barratt Homes Manchester and David Wilson Homes North West to develop 370 homes on land at Appleton Cross.

At this time, homes to be built out on land disposed of by Homes England in the area added up to 700 dwellings.
