THE first location in Warrington to feature on the town’s own official Monopoly game has been revealed.

Winning Moves UK announced earlier this year that it would be producing the special edition board under licence from Hasbro.

Set for release in October, members of the public had been encouraged to suggest places in the borough which should receive their own squares for the new title – with thousands of such nominations submitted.

Three charities will also feature on the Community Chest spaces.

And St Rocco’s Hospice has been announced as the first organisation of this trio which will be included.

Warrington Guardian:

The Bewsey care facility’s marketing and communications manager Russ Fry said: “We're thrilled to have made it onto the board.

“We are very excited at this opportunity to raise more awareness for our charity.

“Thank you to everyone who nominated us.

“Since 1985, we have been working to ensure everyone in our community diagnosed with a life-limiting disease can live well and towards the end of their life have a dignified death in a place of their choice.

“We care for the whole person and those who matter to them.”

Among the more than 30 iconic locations also tipped for inclusion are the Golden Gates, Walton hall and Gardens and the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

Jennifer Lau, custom games executive at Winning Moves UK, added: “A huge congratulations to St. Rocco's, who topped our charity poll.

“Three Warrington charities are each getting to feature on the board's three Community Chest locations.

“The response from the public was overwhelming, and thank you to everyone who sent in nominations.

Warrington Guardian:

“There were more than 4,000 votes specifically for charities, and about the same number of suggestions generally for landmarks in the town.

“The game is being released in October in time for this Christmas. The other charities featuring on the board will be revealed then.”
