THE premise of the restaurant is that those behind Kingsway Lounge pride themselves on high-quality customer service and on being a modern contemporary restaurant.

You can see why.

Upon walking into the new Indian restaurant on Kingsway South in Latchford, which opens today, the décor is very smart and it’s no surprise that it has taken several months to get to this standard.

Make your way up the stairs and you find a bar to your left and the restaurant seating area opens up where stylish, well-spaced out seating is found with booths to the right.

With welcoming, fast service on the drinks, the only thing that was left to live up to was the food.

And boy it did.

Poppadoms and a chutney tray followed for starters and that hit the spot.

As two people who like a bit of spice but not too much to take away the taste of the food, from the traditional dishes we were recommended the chicken balti and the sizzler dish chicken karahi which were first-class.

Accompanying them, a garlic naan – also very nice – chips and pilau rice were also on the money.

Also in attendance was Cllr Maureen Creaghan and owner Jay Hussain’s friends who seemed to enjoy the evening.

It can’t have been an easy task getting the ball rolling on a taster night but our food and service certainly lived up to the expectations that the restaurant has set.

The task is to now keep the high-standards one up – but it is something that the staff are more than capable of doing – so it’s well worth a try for yourself.
