A PROLIFIC purse snatcher who targeted a customer in a shopping centre has been jailed again.
Karen Edgar pinched her victim’s purse and the cash within, valued at a combined £300, during an incident in the Cockhedge Centre in Warrington town centre in November last year.
The 55-year-old was brought to justice after Cheshire Police issued a CCTV appeal following the ‘purse dipping’ incident.
Appearing before Warrington Magistrates Court on Thursday, April 28, she admitted theft and was locked up for six months and ordered to pay £300 in compensation.
This sentence will be served consecutively to another jail term handed down by Liverpool Magistrates Court in March.
Drug addict Edgar, who is of no fixed address but is from Liverpool, has a long record for similar offences.
The serving HMP Styal prisoner has previously been described as a ‘career pickpocket’, with a criminal history dating back several decades.
This shameful past includes targeting pensioners aged as old as 95 in a supermarket, with more than 100 offences dating back to 1982 on her record in total.
