A NEW restaurant has opened in Stockton Heath after its owner spotted there was ‘something missing’ in the village.
Satay Pan Asian opened on London Road at the beginning of the month.
The eatery is located in the site where the former Kelly’s Chinese Restaurant stood for more than 30 years before it shut at the beginning of the year.
And ‘so far, so good’ since opening, says owner Manzoor Pathoor.
Manzoor, who has seven years of experience in the pan-Asian market, said: “After the Chinese restaurant shut, we found that something was missing in the area.
“We have experience with pan-Asian food and it was a good opportunity for us to serve this food to the people in Stockton Heath village.”
Offering a variety of pan-Asian dishes, signature dishes include nasi lemak, nasi goreng, mee goreng, and chicken satay.
And Manzoor is joined at the restaurant by two experienced Malaysian and Thai chefs.
After taking over the building, Manzoor has redecorated both the exterior and interior of the restaurant.
The restaurant has six tables on the ground floor and seven tables upstairs – accommodating up to nearly 50 guests.
Since opening, Satay has been busy, especially at the weekends, so Manzoor encourages anyone interested in dining there to book ahead of their visit.
“It has been amazing, the people are great,” Manzoor added.
“Everyone who has come in has been excited to try the food and they have given us such great feedback.”
Manzoor has future plans to switch up the menu with new dishes and is also considering outdoor seating for the summer months.
The restaurant is open Tuesday-Sunday from 5pm to 11pm.
