Warrington Guardian Best Of 2022 top 10 hair salons revealed

On Friday we launched our new Best of 2022 competition in the Warrington Guardian.

For our first category, we wanted to hear about the best hair salons, barbers and stylists in Warrington.

We asked you, our readers, to tell us who deserved to be in our final shortlist and why.

And we had a huge response, with more than 1,000 nominations received over the weekend.

It was an incredibly difficult task narrowing it down, but we have been able to put together our final top 10 listed below.

Now we need your help to choose an overall Best For Hair winner from our shortlist (in no particular order).

And there are three ways to vote:

1. Search for the Best Of post on our Warrington Guardian Facebook or Instagram pages and comment under the post with the name of your winner = 1 vote

2. Name your favourite in the comments section on this article via our website = 2 votes

3. Purchase a copy of this week’s Warrington Guardian (April 28 edition) and fill in the entry form = 5 votes

Voting officially opens today, Thursday, and closes at midnight on Monday.

We will be announcing the winner next week, and keep an eye out for our next Best Of appeal on our social media pages on Friday, when we will be asking readers who makes the best pies in Warrington.

OUR 10 BEST FOR HAIR FINALISTS:

1. Danielle’s Hairdesign, Victoria Park, Knutsford Road

A personal one to one service in a tranquil location is how Danielle’s Hair Design, based above Spirit restaurant in Victoria Park, is described.

Owner Danielle Brookes, a former British Hair Awards winner, is said to be incredibly knowledgeable, specialising in colour, hair design for special occasions who provides a real feelgood environment.

2. Kate Lucy Hair Studio, Gainsborough Road

Not just a brilliant hair salon which does its best for every client, it is a hub for ladies to make friends, according to those who nominated it. In March Kate Dixon signed up to do 10,000 steps a day to raise almost £500 money for Cancer Research.

The team also collated almost two van loads of donations for Ukraine refugees. Clients say not only is Kate a hard-working and talented stylist, she continuously thinks of everyone first and has a huge heart.

3. The Manor Salon, Hood Manor

Operating since 2015, The Manor Salon received multiple nominations for its excellent customer service. Nominations said: “The entire team always make you feel so at home, and more like a friend than a client. They surprise clients on birthdays and weddings by decorating the salon and putting on treats and Prosecco to make everyone’s day that extra special. They always make everyone feel really pampered.”

4. The Barber Shop, Norris Street, Orford

The Barber Shop was nominated for going out of its way to help cut the hair of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). One nomination said: “Haircuts used to fill me with dread and my son would meltdown over sensory overload. Sam (Bate) at The Barber Shop goes at the child’s pace. She goes above and beyond for everyone at the salon and makes my life as his mum so much easier.”

5. Jakata, Rylands Street, Warrington town centre

Open since 2002, Jakata is a popular salon described as amazing and ‘100 per cent the best’, with a great team of talented stylists by those who nominated them. Special mention was also given to Vikki, who has worked in the industry for a number of years and always makes her clients feel welcomed and valued.

6. Kath Marsh at L.E.A Hair, Dudley Street, Orford

Described as the 'best salon ever' and led by highly experienced stylist Kath Marsh, clients say they are treated more like friends who leave feeling and looking amazing, with staff going above and beyond.

One nomination said: "100% Kath Marsh at L.E.A hair! After having no confidence going to a salon, I plucked up the courage and went to Kath and I would never turn back. Always goes above and beyond. And a hairdresser that actually does as you ask."

7. Ashleigh Hair and beauty, Horsemarket Street, Warrington town centre

Another popular nominee, it is described as a luxury boutique salon with highly skilled staff who are perfectionists when it comes to styling. Specialising in hair extensions, the team are said to create hairstyles that could be featured in professional magazines but at affordable prices. Staff are caring and attentive, and stay ahead of the times when it comes to the latest styles.

8. BRHAIVE, London Road, Stockton Heath

When it comes to BRHAIVE, it’s not only an ‘amazing’ hair salon but a place where the wellbeing of clients comes first. Clients are encouraged to put their phones away and connect with the people around them in a supportive environment. Large mirrors are banished to make them feel more at ease, Kindles are supplied so they can read uplifting books and there is a Chill Our Yard that can be used between services. One nomination said it was an amazing salon and added: “It’s a relaxing place where you are made to feel like friends from the start.”

9. Lords of the North, Barbauld Street, Warrington town centre

The best barbers in England is how fans of Lords of the North describe it. Those who nominated it say the shop is a friendly place with a quirky, welcoming atmosphere and a great vibe.

One nomination said: “I wouldn’t go anywhere else, cool place, awesome staff who treat you as a friend and the best hair cut I’ve ever had.”

10. Kayleigh Louise Hair and Beauty, Martin Avenue, Orford

This salon, which offers everything under one roof, is no stranger to awards having recently been named Spotlight Salon of the Year UK, as well as being a previous English Hair and Beauty Awards winner.

It was referred to in our Best Of nominations as ‘a beautifully decorated salon with the wow factor’, with a friendly atmosphere and highly professional staff who always work their magic.
