BIRCHWOOD residents are set to be paying the highest rates of council tax in 2022.
The average council tax paid (Band D) on a property in Birchwood is £2,049.50.
The lowest average tax on a property is in Lymm, where Band D taxpayers are charged £1,918.74.
In Warrington, only five areas are being charged more than £2,000 in Band D: Birchwood, Croft, Penketh, Stockton Heath, and Winwick.
Across Warrington, the average Band D tax is £1,969.12 - Birchwood residents are being charged more than £80 above this.
The Band D charge has increased by three per cent in one year for Birchwood, from £1,988.30 to £2,049.50.
Of the £2,049.50 paid in council tax in a Band D property, £117 of that goes directly to Birchwood Town Council.
Birchwood Town Council has an income of nearly £368,500 - of which, £265,000 is spent on council employment costs.
£5,000 was spent on grants, with a total of £9,000 local elections and community projects.

As a whole, Warrington Borough Council expects to collect almost £8 million more in council tax in 2022/23 than it did in 2021/22 - the council will also be collecting £4 million more in government grants than it did last year.
The council's budget for this year is expected to spend £7 million more than the last financial year.
