A PAIR of junior rugby league players have raised thousands of pounds for good causes by running 12km on 12 days in a row.

Woolston Rovers u12s duo Warren Robinson and Finlay James took on the challenge during February in order to raise funds for their club, as well as for charity.

In doing so, they drummed up a whopping £3,200 for the organisations – which also included Cancer Research UK and the St Joseph's Family Centre.

Their efforts led to the pair being presented with the Chairman's Award by Rovers chief Steve Moore after the Monk Sports Club outfit's recent National Conference League game against Beverley.

Homegrown Warrington Wolves star Joe Philbin also donated pairs of his innovative Gripz socks in order to assist them during their runs.

Warrington Guardian:

Proud u12s head coach Matt Robinson, Warren's dad, said: "I am massively proud of the pair of them. They both stayed focused and committed throughout, even in the severe weather, and kept each other motivated.

"They are sending out a really positive message to both their teammates and others their age.

"To challenge themselves the way they did, physically and mentally, at 12 years of age takes some doing. They are also giving something back by raising awareness and funds for their chosen charities.

"In total the boys raised around £3,200 – which will help both national and local charities, Cancer Research UK and the St Joseph’s Family Centre, as well as their teammates."
