DALLAM pupils day got off to a rocking start as they celebrated the importance of the times tables.
The Dallam Community Primary School youngsters dressed up as rock stars which coincided with the use of the school’s maths app.
The Rock Stars app promotes the importance of times tables in maths – which is an ‘essential’ skill.
Dallam staff wanted to encourage the pupils to realise this importance in a fun way.
Pupils had great fun dressing up, playing times tables games and competing in battles at certain times of the day.
When the school tannoy sounded, the children had to be ready to ‘drop everything and practice’.
To finish the fun day off, a whole school assembly was held where each class performed specific time tables to the rest of the school to a familiar song.
Layla, a year four pupil, said: “Today was brilliant.
“I loved dressing up like a rockstar and pretending I was in Time Tables Rock Stars.”
The day was a great success and staff and parents are hoping to make it a yearly event.
