THE latest addition to Warrington Market is bringing the taste of Palestine to the town.

Where’s Romero has called the market home for the past month and thanks to owner Hadil Ali, who is from Palestine, she wants to show everyone just how good the food is.

Hadil said: “I’ve always eaten really well. My mum and my family taught me all of these recipes and I just wanted everyone to experience them.

“I came up with a menu that everyone could try whether you are vegan, vegetarian, a meat-eater or a fish-eater.

“The idea is that you eat like a Palestinian. When you come to my place you can pick from 20 dishes or you can order all 20 dishes and eat them all if you want with a free bottle of wine.

“It feeds however many people you want, it’s not like everyone gets a portion, you just eat and if you want a refill let us know, it’s eating like a Palestinian is the best way to describe it.”

Hadil lives near Northwich and has a base at Barons Quay Social as well.

And the name is inspired by her son Romero, aged 11.

The 48-year-old added: “His name means pilgrim. In the olden days in the Roman Empire, people used to travel from Britain to Jerusalem – where I am from – and he got that name because his dad is English and I am Palestinian.

“I’m really proud to bring this to Warrington. The food is amazing and it includes everyone and anyone is welcome at the Palestinian table.”

Hadil explained why the food has gone down so well in a short space of time.

She continued: “The reception has been amazing. It’s only been here a few weeks and we’re one of the only Middle Eastern restaurants around.

“Everything I do is fresh, the only thing I use frozen is peas.

“People really love it because you can buy something for a fiver or you can buy a full-blown meal, it’s up to you.”
