MOTORISTS using roads in Westbrook as a racetrack are being warned that action will be taken against them.

This is the warning from Cheshire Police officers in the area after they received concerns over the issue from worried residents.

Police community support officers have met with councillors from Burtonwood and Westbrook Parish Council to discuss the problem further.

Officers say technology will be used to deter speeding, while Cheshire Police’s Roads and Crime Unit has also been informed.

A social media post from the force’s Westbrook Police account read: “I am aware of the ongoing issues with ‘street racers and cruisers’ in the area, and this has been raised by councillors in the last parish council meetings.

“I am doing some more work around this, working with the technology as well as being trained in other technology as well.

“Also, I am trying to work with the borough council to see ways to help reduce this issue by designing the issue out or making areas less appealing, and our roads policing team is aware and will try and assist with any calls that are made to us.”
