TIGHT-LIPPED Tories have declined to say whether the Prime Minister should resign.

Warrington Conservatives did not wish to comment when questioned on if it believes Boris Johnson should quit.

In the House of Commons last Wednesday, Mr Johnson apologised for attending a ‘bring your own booze’ party in the Downing Street garden during the first coronavirus lockdown.

But he said he ‘believed implicitly that this was a work event’.

As reported last week, Labour Warrington North MP Charlotte Nichols said the Prime Minister must resign ‘for his own respect and the good of the country’.

Furthermore, Tory Warrington South MP Andy Carter’s office said he is unable to comment due to his position on the parliamentary standards committee.

Mr Carter has been facing questions from people on Twitter.

One asked: “Have you been to any parties?”

Another said: “Is the Prime Minister a man of integrity? What are your thoughts on the parties while people were not allowed to visit dying family? Notwithstanding as a Warrington Tory member, you can’t expect me to vote for the party anymore?”

Another told Mr Carter he needs to 'act now' if Mr Johnson 'isn’t going to cost you your seat'. He added: "Why are you sitting back and letting him do this to you and the country?"

Furthermore Labour’s Faisal Rashid – who lost his seat to Mr Carter in the 2019 general election – has also shared his views.

He tweeted: “We have a Prime Minister with no shame at all. He must resign.”

Mr Carter’s office has not responded to a request for a comment.
