THE number of patients receiving care for Covid at Warrington Hospital has fallen in the past 24 hours.

The positive news was confirmed by Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in its daily Covid-19 briefing this afternoon, Wednesday.

At present, 85 beds at the Lovely Lane site are occupied by patients that have tested positive for the virus in the past 14 days or less.

Of this number, only one is in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

This is a fall of 12 patients since yesterday, with the number in the ICU falling by three.

Moreover, no new Covid deaths have been recorded at Warrington Hospital for another 24-hour period.

It means that as a result, the trust’s coronavirus death toll to date remains at 595.

On top of this, a further 19 patients have been discharged from the hospital since yesterday after recovering from Covid-19.

This takes the trust’s virus discharge total since the start of the pandemic to 2,843.
