PLANS hoping to breathe a new lease of life into a former gaming arcade have been revealed.
Retro Arcade, a bar boasting a host of vintage gaming machines, first opened under the arches on Crown Street in Warrington town centre in 2019 but has since closed down.
Now the site is set to be transformed into a comic book store, gaming café and events hub, as revealed by an application for planning permission submitted to Warrington Borough Council.
It is anticipated that the proposals will create three full-time and three part-time jobs.
Submission documents stated: “The proposal is considered to be an appropriate type of development in the town centre and has the potential to contribute to the vitality and viability of the town centre.
“In addition, the proposed use is in a well-suited location close to highway links and public transport facilities.
“The proposal should also have no adverse impact on the amenity of any existing neighbouring occupiers and no adverse impact on the adjacent train station.”
