AN actress and children’s entertainer who was caught drink driving on a motorway has been ordered to carry out unpaid work.

Melissa Woods, who has appeared as an extra in Coronation Street and also describes herself in online biographies as a ‘best-selling children’s author’, was three times over the legal limit when her car was pulled over by police on the M56.

The 34-year-old was stopped near to junction 10 at Stretton in her Kia Sportage in August this year.

She subsequently provided a breath sample of 105mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath, the legal limit being 35mg.

Woods, of Helmshore in Rossendale, admitted drink driving at Warrington Magistrates Court on Thursday, November 25, on the day she was due to stand trial.

Magistrates ordered her to complete 120 hours on unpaid work and banned her from driving for two years.

She was also told to pay court costs of £500 plus a £95 victim surcharge.
