A PERSON was taken to hospital after suffering ‘serious injuries’ in a three-vehicle crash on the Daresbury Expressway this morning, Friday.

The accident, involving a silver Volkswagen T-Roc, a white Volvo and a blue BMW, occurred near the roundabout junction with Blackheath Lane at around 8.45am.

Two fire engines from Runcorn and Warrington fire stations attended, along with police.

Three ambulances were also dispatched to the scene, along with a helimed doctor, advanced paramedic and the hazardous area response team.

A spokesman for North West Ambulance Service confirmed that three patients were taken to hospital, with one suffering ‘serious injuries’.

Two of the patients had to be extracted from vehicles involved in the crash by firefighters, who handed them into the care of paramedics.

A spokesman for Cheshire Police said: “Officers were called to Daresbury Expressway at around 8.45am on Friday, November 26, following reports of a collision involving a silver Volkswagen T-Roc, a white Volvo and a blue BMW.

“The driver and passenger of the Volkswagen were taken to hospital as a precaution.

“The driver of the Volvo, a man, was also taken to hospital for checks.

“A road closure was in place for recovery but has since been reopened.”
