A FAMILY from Lymm were left baffled as to how their huge dog managed to make his way onto a roof.

Kyle Barrett was visiting family with his wife, children and pooch when everyone noticed their dog, Samson, had vanished.

But nobody expected to look up and spot the 60kg St Bernard sniffing around on the roof of his mother's bungalow on Saturday.

The family then had the job of coaxing the one-year-old still-growing pup back down again.

Dad-of-one Kyle, who works in IT, says that thankfully Samson was sure-footed, and fortunately got down with ease.

But he was slightly nervous the ‘dozy’ dog would fall.

After the initial bewilderment as to how the curious pooch ended up on the roof, Kyle says he believed he had climbed up via the garage.

“We could hear this loud banging and realised at the same time we could not find the dog,” the 32-year-old said.

“I was a bit surprised – it is not every day you see a 60kg St Bernard wandering around on the roof.

“I did panic a little that the dozy bugger might fall off, but luckily he is fairly sure-footed.

“I guess he just wanted to have a bit of a wander.”
