DOZENS of dead fish have been spotted in a canal in Great Sankey, as well as a duck.
A ‘heartbroken’ passer-by found them at Sankey Valley earlier this week while walking her dog.
She said: “Every year this happens.
“Why aren’t Warrington Borough Council doing anything about it?”
A Warrington Borough Council spokesperson said: “Sections of St Helens canal has been infested with water fern resulting in a temporary reduction in oxygen levels, we are working with the Environment Agency Fisheries Team and Angling Group to address the problem.”
