BEST man duties at his twin's wedding were dealt a knockout blow as a martial arts ace became a two-times European champion.

The wedding party all tuned in to watch as Dan Bonner, 30, from Latchford defeated Marley Zwanenberg by judges' decision at the 02 Arena in London.

Dan's Muay Thai Grand Prix title display could open the door to a shot at the world title.

Matthew, who married Lesley Hailey at The Vicarage in Holmes Chapel and co-owns The Forge Fight Academy Gym in Bewsey with his brother and Rob Lightburn, became Cage Warriors middleweight world champion in June.

"As soon as the coach said I had a fight in October, I just had a feeling that it was going to end up being October 9," said Dan, who was gutted to miss the big day.

“It was a big fight, he understood and he’d do the same thing if it was the other way round.

“Rob is one of Matthew’s good mates so he stood in for me instead.

“On the day I left Matthew to it and he left me to it. It was a big fight, and I like to be left alone. I caught up with him afterwards.

“It was a small wedding, finished by about 10pm, so they all watched the fight live on a screen which was pretty cool."
