A MUCH-LOVED curry house in Warrington has been crowned the winner at the prestigious Curry Life awards.

Bombay 8 in Westbrook has been voted the nation's best curry restaurant at this year's Curry Awards staged by the Curry Magazine at London's Royal Lancaster Hotel.

The Curry Life awards celebrate the unique fusion cuisine of Indian food in the UK.

It is the first time the restaurant has entered the annual awards and owner Mofozul Miah could not be more pleased with the recognition.

“It is a privilege to be nominated and to win it. It’s an exceptional award to win for us. It shows that we are trying our best, we’re not perfect as human beings but we want it to be somewhere our customers look forward to coming,” Mofozul said.

“They are coming to a restaurant that has been recognised with the Curry Life award so it is a great achievement. We try to serve our customers in the best way as well as look after them and put a smile on their faces.

“We feel that they are part of the family. They have not just come here for the food, they have come here for a bit of love. Yes, we are a very, very busy place but we try to give as much time as we can to our customers.

"The past couple of years have been extremely challenging for businesses like ours – and it is marvellous to emerge from such difficult times with such a top award."

Mofozul, who has been in the restaurant trade for more than 30 years, feels that they have gone the extra mile for nine years and that is what helps to separate them from other restaurants.

He added: “We put the extra effort and the extra care in for the customers. If there is an issue, you try and sort it in a good-mannered way whereby the customers are happy.

“It’s not a one-person thing, it’s a whole team effort. Every year, Bombay 8 has been going up, up and up so there must be something that we are doing right. I think my team are doing something good therefore customers come back again.”
