HIGH Legh Primary School has introduced a pop-up swimming pool on its playground in a bid to change its teaching style.

Staff decided to try and change the way they teach their national curriculum swimming – changing from one lesson a week to a more ‘intensive’ block of swimming.

This will also reduce the amount of time spent travelling to and from the swimming baths which will allow for more teaching back at the school.

The process started this week and the pop-up pool will be there for three weeks.

Deputy head teacher, Jo Price, said lessons will be provided for 30 minutes each day for all KS2 children for the first two weeks.

The final week will be providing extra lessons for non-swimmers who may not have had the opportunity to swim much due to pool closures.

The pool is filtered and heated (26-32 degrees), 1.4m in depth and measures 32 x 16ft.
