IT is the 23rd National Curry Week this week so we rounded up some of the best suggestions for where to get your curry fix.

We took to TripAdvisor to find nine of the best curry houses according to their ratings and this is where they rank…

1. Bombay8, Gemini

Top spot is naan other than Bombay8. The Westbrook curry house has retained its top spot from our list last year and is as reliable as ever.

One visitor said: “My wife and I visited Bombay8 today, we've not been to eat in since lockdown. Once again we had another fantastic meal the staff are so courteous and attentive too. A must-visit for excellent Indian food.”

Another added: “Service was absolutely first class, food amazing, what more could you ask for?”

2. Lalkilla, Orford

Lalkilla, like Bombay8 keeps retains the same place it the rankings.

One visitor said: I've been a lover of Indian food since a young boy and was spoilt with my parents being fans of the old curry mile in Rusholme. I tried various local restaurants in Warrington.

“Some have been good and some of been bad but I've never recaptured the traditional curry from Rusholme. I visited here for the first time on Friday and I wish I had sooner.”

Chris added: Good quality and plentiful - best Indian restaurant in the UK! I’ve been going for 38 years.”

3. Cardamon, Stockton Heath

Moving up a spot from last year, the Stockton Heath curry house is certainly doing well in the eyes of its customers.

One customer said: “Excellent experience at a fabulous restaurant. Two of our party are vegan and we were offered a full range of dishes cooked specifically for us. Nothing was too much trouble.”

Another said: “Visited this restaurant for the first time this evening with two friends. The restaurant has a lovely ambience and surroundings. Great friendly service, very helpful. Fantastic food and probably the best Indian we've all had for a long time.”

4. Eastern Revive, Stockton Heath

Swapping places with its fellow Stockton Heath Indian, the West Avenue restaurant comes in at number four.

Emma said: “Just had a lovely evening at this beautiful restaurant. It was our 34th wedding anniversary and we arrived to a lovely heart balloon at the table. Our first impressions were amazing.

"The decor and ambience is beautiful. The food was excellent and the service first class. Special thanks to Mo he is the most charming host.”

Emily added: “The service was fantastic as soon as we walked in. The staff were so attentive and genuine.

"The food was sensational, it was the best curry we’ve had in a restaurant ever.”

5. The Raj, Culcheth

The Raj is in its 16th year of serving Culcheth and still continues to impress customers.

One reviewer said: “We had a lovely meal at the Raj!

“The staff are lovely, they have plenty of staff on which is unusual these days, they are very attentive and get you seated and take a drink order really quickly. The food came out quickly and was delicious.

“They're great at catering for different diets. I'm gluten-free and my partner is vegetarian and we had lots of options available even the poppadom’s say gluten-free. I was very impressed.”

6. Cinnamon Lounge, Sankey Street

For over 30 years the Indian restaurant served the town – and they are showing no signs of stopping.

Mick was best pleased with his starters and main.

“We savoured every mouthful and wiped out plates clean. We drank non-alcoholic shandies: very refreshing. Staff were welcoming and all was excellent value for money.”

7. Spice of India, Cuerdley

The former Cuerdley Cross pub has moved up two positions from last years rankings.

One reviewer will be spreading the word about the curry house.

They said: “I dropped in, I had never been before and thankfully they had a free table.

"We ordered off the set menu - five courses for £15.

"The food was faultless, the naan bread was the best I’ve tasted. Staff were attentive and accommodating.

"The food is such good value for money. Will be returning and would recommend to others.”

8. The Cottage, Church Street

The contemporary Indian in a Tudor building remains in the top ten with one particularly pleased customer signing their praises.

Kelly said: “Came here last night for my dad's 60th birthday the food was out of this world. My son isn't usually keen on Indian food but he demolished his starter and main course.

“The staff were lovely and even gave my dad a free cocktail for his birthday. All-around brilliant service will be definitely visiting again soon.”

9. Chennai, Glazebury

This Warrington Road restaurant impressed both regulars and first-timers to the restaurant.

One visitor said: “Every time we go the food is outstanding and the service spot on. Best Indian restaurant in the area by far and I will keep on visiting as long as it is here.”

Another said: “Finally we got round to trying here and we were totally blown away. Fabulous food, atmosphere and wonderful staff. Highly recommend a visit .”
