A NEW Pot Noodle flavour invented by a Warringtonian has hit the supermarket shelves.

Billy Hughes, from Orford, created the katsu curry flavoured instant noodles for a competition run by the snack giant.

Warrington Guardian:

Despite being defeated in the final of a public vote by piri-piri chicken, the brand’s owner Unilever decided to put the Wagamama-inspired design into production anyway.

Warrington Guardian:

And the katsu curry Pot Noodle is on sale now.

Billy, 24, said: “About this time last year, I saw a post on Facebook where Pot Noodle were asking for ideas for new flavours – being bored in lockdown with nothing else to do, I thought I’d give it a go.

“I uploaded it and didn’t think anything of it, but it got picked and eventually got into the final.

“Unfortunately, piri-piri chicken won so I was a bit gutted and deflated.

“But about two or three weeks ago, I logged into Instagram and there it was – the katsu curry Pot Noodle had been made.

Warrington Guardian:

“They sent some vouchers and a letter saying thank you. and that it had done really well in the competition so they decided to go ahead and make it.

Warrington Guardian:

“Me and my partner go to Wagamamas quite a lot and get the katsu curry, and I thought a Pot Noodle would be really nice in that flavour.

“I took some into work for everyone and gave them to family members – we’ve had a taste of it in the office and at home, and it seems to be a bit of a winner.”
