A PENKETH family run business is celebrating a prestigious environmental award after being amongst more than 500 other nominations.

EDR Landscape Management Solutions LTD have won an International Green Apple Environmental Award in the campaign to find the greenest companies.

The grounds management business, run by father and son Brian and David Ramsbottom, will be presented with their trophy and certificate at a presentation ceremony in the Houses of Parliament, London, on November 15.

As a result of the award success, they have also been invited to accept Green World Ambassador status and have their winning paper publishing in The Green Book – the leading international work of reference on environmental practice.

It will also entitle them to represent their country in the Green World Environment Awards which is held in a different country each year.

EDR Landscapes also won the award two years ago as they managed to cut their carbon footprint down by 90 per cent and also knocked down their non-recyclable waste down from 60 per cent to 5 per cent.

Brian and David have done a lot of work since the business was launched in 2014 to try and reduce the waste and carbon they reduce, such as scheduling where the vans go every day to ensure the journeys are minimum.
