THERE is a closure on the East Lancashire Road due to a "serious collision".
The A580 is closed both ways, with very slow traffic due to the incident between Kenyon Lane South and Junction 23 (Haydock Island).
Due a police incident, there are closures on the East Lancashire Road in both directions M6 j23 area to St Helens, tailbacks are extremely likely, try to find an alternative route, further updates will follow.

The road has been closed since 6.15pm.
Highways England said: "The A580 at J23 M6 (HaydockIsland A580) is currently closed in both directions due to a serious collision".
