FOUR Warrington Athletics Club runners produced strong performances at national level at the weekend.

Lisa Halliday ran a personal best 48.50secs in finishing eighth in the under 17s 300m hurdles final of the English Age Group Championships at Sportcity, Manchester.

Orla Gregory was sixth in the under 17s 1500m in 4mins 37.97secs.

In the under 15s age group, Lewis Shaw finished fourth in his heat in 12.18secs in the boys’ 80m hurdles.

Evie Schofield finished sixth in the final of the 75m hurdles in 11.87secs.

Meanwhile, Steve Watmough is getting faster with age.

His outright win in the Lancaster Riverside 10 Miles Road Race was his first since returning to running 18 years ago and he clocked a personal best 57mins 18secs.

Fellow master athlete Colin Bishop finished seventh in the Rhyl 5k in 17mins 51secs, winning the over 60s age group.

Personal best times were set by five WAC athletes in the Trafford Grand Prix for distance.

They were achieved by Rachel McQuillan (under 20s 800m, 2mins 22.48secs, first), Jack Wadsworth (under 20s 1500m, 4mins 09.11secs, fifth), Orla Gregory (under 17s 800m, 2mins 18.90secs, first), Jack Marwood (under 15s 1500m, 4mins 39.4secs, eighth) and Alex Rix (under 15s 1500m, 5mins 09.91secs, 10th).

Katie Lowery finished fourth in an under 20s 800m race in 2mins 14.59secs.

Warrington’s athletes finished fourth in the third round of the Cheshire League at Ashton under Lyne, with the under 11s placing seventh. In the age groups there were many excellent performances and personal bests.

Victories came from Euan Lawton and Nathan Parry in the under 11s A and B 600m, while Ayan Tripathi won the B long jump.

In the under 13s events wins were achieved by Caleb Adelani, Thomas Darbyshire and Arul Tripathi in the A, B and C 200m as well as the boys’ 4x100m relay; Abigail Adelani in the B 100m, Ellie Barker, Sinead Gregory, Sarah Ashcroft and Cara Gregory in the A, B, C and D 800m while Emily Kinsey won a non-scoring race. More wins were bagged by Ellie Barker and Abigail Adelani in the A and B javelin and the girls’ 4x100m relay.

In the under 15s age group, Zak Chamun and Edward Chaplin were the only winners in the boys’ javelin.

The only other winners came in the senior women’s long jump, in which Sophia Rowlinson won, and the 4x100m relay.
