WINNING the inaugural Non-League Super Cup would be "brilliant" for Warrington Rylands.

However, manager Dave McNabb is under no illusions about how stiff their task of doing so is.

Having memorably won the FA Vase by beating Binfield at Wembley Stadium back in May, Blues were invited to take part in a one-off pre-season test for a new piece of silverware.

Their opponents are Hornchurch – the FA Trophy winners who ply their trade one tier above McNabb's side in the Isthmian League Premier Division.

"It would be brilliant to win it," the Blues boss said of Saturday's game.

"Come the end of the season, it probably won’t mean much but it’s one of those competitions where you want to do really well.

"Any opportunity you get to win a trophy, you have to give it your best shot. Winning games puts you in the best mentality possible in football.

"We know how difficult its going to be but hopefully, we can get something from it."

The Urchins beat Hereford to lift the Trophy at Wembley hours after Rylands had done the same in the Vase and now, they will meet at the Essex club's Bridge Avenue home ground.

Both sides will be wrapping up their preparations for the upcoming season, which will be Blues' first at Northern Premier League level and gets underway on August 14.

They will be underdogs against a higher-ranked side, but pulling off shocks is nothing new to this group.

After all, they saw off Step Three opposition in Whitby Town during their run to the FA Cup fourth qualifying round last season.

However, McNabb acknowledges Hornchurch will provide a much tougher examination of his side.

"Hornchurch are arguably one of if not the best Step 3 team after their performance in the Trophy," he said.

"It’s going to be a massive, massive test but it’s something to look forward to.

"It’s another trophy on the line and another big game. We’ll go down there and give it our best shot."

Saturday's game kicks off at 3pm and will be streamed live for those unable to attend in person.
