THREE Warrington Athletics Club competitors achieved wins in the British Masters North meeting at Longford Stadium, Trafford, on Saturday.

In the shot putt, over 55 John Nicholls won with a throw of 13.70m, while in the 800m over 40 Chris Stanford succeeded in 2mins 02.19secs which is a personal best and moved him to second in the age group UK rankings.

Over 50 Neal Petley competed in three events, winning his hurdles in 16.78secs and improving his season's best time in the process.

Petley also finished second in the all-age-group long jump with 4.48m to win the over 50s event, and he finished third overall in the triple jump with 9.02m to place second over 50.

Meanwhile, two athletes from the club took part in the Sale Sizzler 5K road race at Wythenshawe Park, with the weather living up to the race name.

Daniel Schofield finished in 48th place in 17mins 28secs while Ellen Turnbull finished in 224th place overall in a personal best 22mins 40secs.This placed Ellen 37th woman and first under 17s woman.
