ANOTHER death has been recorded at Warrington Hospital over the weekend of a patient who contracted coronavirus.

The sad update was released by Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust in its daily Covid-19 briefing this afternoon, Monday.

It means that the trust’s Covid death toll has now risen to 507.

As of this afternoon, the Lovely Lane site is caring for 24 patients that have tested positive for coronavirus in the past 14 days or less.

Of this number, six are in the hospital’s intensive care unit.

The total number of patients with the virus remains the same as it was on Friday, however the number in ICU has fallen by three.

Moreover, seven more patients were discharged from the hospital over the weekend after recovering from Covid-19.

This brings the hospital’s discharge total since the start of the pandemic to 2,094.

Across Warrington as a whole, official statistics show that in the week before July 21, the most recent period for which figures are available, a total of 1,254 cases were detected in the town.

This demonstrates an infection rate of 597.1 cases per every 100,000 residents which is the 56th highest in the UK compared with all over local authority areas.

The previous seven-day period up to July 14 saw 1,135 cases recorded at a rate of 540 per 100,000, showing there has been an increase in the town’s rate.

Of the 315 local areas in England, Warrington was among 86 per cent that have seen a week on week rise in rates, while 14 per cent have seen a fall and two areas’ rates remain unchanged.
