LUCY Glover and her Team GB crew are out of the medal hunt in the Tokyo Olympic Games after their display in today’s repechage.

The former Lymm High School student and Warrington Rowing Club member from Grappenhall finished fourth with her quadruple sculls teammates in their second race of the Games to leave them in the B final.

Team GB, with Glover in the stroke seat, went into the repechage - a second bite of the cherry for the six crews finishing outside the top two places in the two heats – as the second fastest boat from the opening races and only 13 hundredths of a second behind Italy’s time.

They therefore occupied the preferred middle lanes at Tokyo's Sea Forest Waterway when the repechage was scheduled to start at 3.10am (UK time) today.

But Australia, nearly six seconds slower than Team GB in the heats, found more speed in their boat and progressed as winners with second-place Italy.

Glover and her teammates Hannah Scott and sisters Mathilda and Charlotte Hodgkins-Byrne clocked 6:42.97, six seconds off the winners' pace and three seconds behind third-placed New Zealand.

They will go on to face United States, New Zealand and France to decided placings seventh to 10th in a B final which has been delayed a day due to the forecast of severe weather conditions, with the race now set for Wednesday at 1am.

Repechage result:

1 Australia 6:36.67

2 Italy 6:37.44

3 New Zealand 6:39.91

4 Great Britain 6:42.97

5 France 6:47.41

6 United States 6:50.74
