MOTORISTS are facing delays of 40 minutes and six miles of queuing traffic on the M6 this afternoon, Thursday.
This follows a crash involving a car and a van on the northbound carriageway.
The accident occurred between junctions 25 for Bryn and 26 for the Orrell Interchange with the M58.

Congestion is stretching as far back as junction 21a for the Croft Interchange.
Lane one of three is currently closed.
The collision happened in the roadworks area limited by a 50mph speed restriction.
