A SUSPECT has been charged after a car was allegedly driven at a police officer.

Cheshire Police were called to Hastings Avenue in Orford on Sunday, July 18, after reports of a burglary and an assault.

Keys, a bank card and a phone were taken during the break-in.

A vehicle was then reportedly driven at an officer who attended the incident.

After a chase on the M6 southbound, the Vauxhall Corsa was stopped near Cannock in Staffordshire.

Joshua Beech, from Cannock, has since been charged with burglary, failing to stop for police, harassment, assaulting an emergency services worker and assault.

The 30-year-old is due to appear before Warrington Magistrates Court in order to face these charges today, Tuesday.

A force spokesman said: “Following a short pursuit on the M6 on Sunday, July 18, officers have charged a 30-year-old man.

“Joshua Beech, aged 30 and from Hampton Green in Cannock, was arrested and subsequently charged with assault, burglary, assaulting an emergency services worker, failing to stop for and harassment.

“He was remanded in custody and will appear at Warrington Magistrates Court today, Tuesday.”
