TRAFFIC is building up and delays are to be expected on a main route into Warrington this morning, Friday.
This follows a road traffic collision on Winwick Road near to junction nine of the M62 at just before 8.45am.
The crash involved four vehicles, including two lorries and two vans.
Cheshire Police are in attendance and officers are urging motorists to avoid the area and find alternative routes.
According to traffic reports, the crash happened on the south side of the roundabout and the road is partially blocked.
A statement posted on the force’s Warrington Police social media accounts reads: “We are currently dealing with an RTC at the top of Winwick Rd, junction with the m62.
“Please avoid the area if you can as traffic is starting to build up.”
A spokesman for Cheshire Police added: “At 8.43am police were called to reports of a collision on the A49 Winwick Road, near to the B&Q Roundabout.
“Officers attended the scene and found there had been a collision between two lorries, a white Renault Luton van and a white Volkswagen Luton van.
“There are no reports of any injuries, however one lane is closed and traffic is heavy in the area and there are delays.”
