A WARRINGTON primary school have shown their support for the England football team following the racist abuse after their defeat in the Euros final on Sunday, July 11.

The year five and six pupils at Gorse Covert were shocked by the abuse and were upset by the racist comments that Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Bukayo Saka received.

The pupils were shown Rashford’s tweet and talked about the graffiti painted on his mural in Withington.

They wanted to show their support for the players, so created posters and wrote letters to demonstrate this.

Mrs Cooke, headteacher, said: ‘‘They were horrified that people could do this and wanted to do something about it.

‘‘They wanted to make some posters to educate others about racism and also wanted to show their support for the players.

‘‘The teachers said they would share anything they produced, and they would send the posters to the England team.

‘‘We are really proud of the work they produced and the things they wrote. We are particularly proud that they wanted to make a public stand by them being shared online.’’
