A VEGAN fair will be taking place in Time Square on Saturday, July 31.

There be around 50 stalls outside Warrington Market for the pop-up event selling all manner of plant-based dishes from fast food to healthy eats and from artisan savouries and vegan cheeses to sweet treats.

Between 10.30am and 4pm, there will also be vegan-friendly handmade cosmetics, ethical clothing and jewellery, arts and crafts, plastic-free produce and charity stalls.

Warrington Vegan Market is being organised by Vegan Market Co. Entry is free and there could be more events if it is a success.

The percentage of British people following a vegan diet skyrocketed by 40 percent in 2020, according to a new poll.

Research by shopping comparison site, finder.com, showed that around 1.1 million people followed a plant-based diet at the beginning of 2020.

Now that figure is closer to 1.5 million people – about three per cent of the population.

Many others are turning to vegan products to cut down on their meat or animal product consumption for health or environmental reasons.

Warrington now has specialist vegan shops like Powered by Plants in Stockton Heath but the growth of veganism has even seen dedicated product lines in most supermarkets.
