THE number of new coronavirus cases being recorded in Warrington over a seven-day period has risen again, latest data shows.

During the week up to June 25, which is the most recent period for which figures are available, 558 infections were recorded in the town through lab-reported and rapid lateral flow testing.

This is the equivalent of 265.7 cases per every 100,000 residents, which is the 34th highest rate in England compared with all other local authority areas.

Moreover, this is a rise of 37 cases compared with the week up to June 24 and 147 cases on the previous seven-day period up to June 18, when the town’s infection rate was 195.7.

Warrington is among 296 of 315 local areas in England that have seen a rise in case rates (94 per cent), while 18 have seen a fall (six per cent) and one is unchanged.
