CHESHIRE Steam Fair is going ahead this year – with capacity capped at 4,000 people per day to follow government Covid guidance.

The celebration of traction engines and vintage vehicles is taking place in Daresbury on the weekend of July 10 and 11.

It will feature more than 60 steam engines and, as usual, there will be a large collection of traditional fairground organs playing that were historically used in travelling fairs and circuses.

On display will also be a selection of vintage cars, lorries and buses, classic motorcycles, military vehicles and vintage tractors.

They can be viewed by enthusiasts throughout the day before they parade around the main arena.

Performing in the main arena will be Stannage International Stunt Team featuring motorbike jumps, fire runs, flaming high dives, quad stunts and the must-see 'exploding coffin'.

And back by popular demand is Ken Fox’s Wall of Death.

A spokesman said: "This is the oldest surviving Wall of Death in the UK. The Wall of Death has been synonymous with speed and danger since it began in the early part of the 20th century.

"The noise, the speed, the smell, the proximity of the bikes being ridden to the top of the vertical wall only inches from the audience is a truly unique experience and one not to be missed."

Elsewhere are family-friendly funfair rides, Punch and Judy shows, a giant inflatable course, have-a-go model boat pool, trampolines and birds of prey displays.

The popular craft, gift and food fair and 'auto jumble' are also returning as are chainsaw carving demonstrations.

Gates open at 10am with the events programme running between 11.15am and 5pm.

Buying tickets online is recommended at outdoorshows.co.uk. The event is supporting Merseyside and Cheshire Blood Bikes and Daresbury Primary School.
