WARRINGTON Borough Council has responded after a library building was put up for sale.

For sale signs put up on Westbrook Library earlier this month had caused concern among some residents.

However, it is understood that services will be unaffected by the leasehold auction – which is due to take place on Wednesday, July 7.

The council says it is ‘liaising with partners to understand the implications of Homes England’s decision to sell the leasehold’.

A WBC spokesman said: “We are liaising with partners to establish the current position with Westbrook Library, and to understand the implications of Homes England’s decision to sell the leasehold on the building.”
