A SPORTS club has been granted planning permission for new stands and facilities at its home ground.

Warrington Borough Council has given its approval for the scheme at Rylands FC’s Gorsey Lane.

The development includes three proposed covered seated stands to the east and west of the football pitch, as well as new changing rooms behind the East Stand.

These will replace existing temporary units fitted at Rylands Recreation Club.

Submission documents stated: “Morph Architecture has been appointed by Rylands Recreation Club to submit a planning application for the erection of new covered stands to the west side and a new covered stand with facility block to rear to replace existing temporary units to the perimeter of the principle football pitch at the club.

“Stands and facilities are to serve all main event football matches across all teams at various levels and inclusivity.

“The new stands are of minimal impact within the context of their site setting, replicating the profile of existing stands on the site – thereby no different to that of the existing situation.

“It is of considered opinion that these new stands do not represent a compromise to any neighbouring situation and should therefore be granted approval accordingly.”

Some residents of Gorsey Lane had objected after raising concerns over parking and noise.

But WBC gave its consent on Tuesday, June 8.
