TRAIN commuters were given a special treat before heading to work this morning, Thursday, as they were able to catch a glimpse of Britain’s poshest train.
The Northern Belle pulled into Newton-le-Willows station to collect excited passengers for a luxury train journey.
Also waiting at the station to greet the train, which was once part of the iconic Orient Express group, were train watchers and photographers.
The Northern Belle called at Newton after starting its journey at Liverpool Lime Street, before setting off for its next port of call in Manchester Victoria.
From there, it will head to its eventual destination of Carlisle.
For £390, passengers are greeted with a glass of champagne while seated in a plush armchair, with a light brunch also served in the train’s stylish dining carriages.
On arrival in Carnforth, the train will link up with a steam locomotive for the remainder of the trip to Carlisle.
On the return journey, passengers are treated to a delectable five course dinner as the carriages cross the scenic regions of the Yorkshire Dales and the North Pennines.
The opulent interior design of the carriage evokes the 1930s ‘Belle’ trains.
