RAW sewage was left spilling out over residents’ driveways due to a blocked drain on a residential street.
The issue on Brookside Avenue in Great Sankey was reported to United Utilities last Thursday, May 6.
Engineers then attended the scene in order to clear the blockage – which, according to residents, saw sewage spill into the street and over the driveways of their homes – on Friday afternoon.
A spokesman for the water company said: “This issue was reported to us and one of our jetting teams has been out to investigate.
“There was a blockage which we have cleared, but the drain was found to be a private sewer – which means it doesn’t belong to us, and so we could only give advice on how to stop it from happening again.”
