A NATIONAL discount store chain says it is delighted to announce it will be opening a second shop in Warrington later this week.

One Below, which boasts that everything is for sale for £1 or under, already has a store at the Cockhedge Shopping Centre.

The positive reception the store received since opening has led the chain to open another shop in the town at Birchwood Shopping Centre.

It is set to open its doors to customers for the first time on Friday at 10am following a six-figure investment, creating 30 jobs for local people in the process.

Christopher Edwards, managing director of One Below Retail, said: “We are delighted to be opening a second store in Warrington at Birchwood Shopping Centre, following the really positive reception that we received for our first store in the town.

“Now more than ever, when times are financially tighter for so many families, we are proud to be offering incredible savings on hundreds of branded shopping essentials and on-trend items.

“It is great to be able to occupy this space in the shopping centre, and when other retailers on the high street are closing, we are delighted to be able to offer new jobs to locals working in the retail industry.”

Created by the original founders of national chain Poundworld, the new One Below store will occupy the former Poundworld store at Birchwood Shopping Centre.

Almost 50 per cent of the team is made up of ex-Poundworld employees who lost their jobs when Poundworld went in to administration three years ago.

For its opening on Friday, One Below has implemented stringent social distancing and hygiene measures in order for customers to shop safely.

Items for sale include essential cleaning products, groceries, medical items, homeware, pet care, health and beauty products and DIY essentials.

The store will also stock a range of gardening items, kids’ toys and summer products.

Since One Below’s launch two years ago, the independent retailer has opened more than 70 stores across the UK, with plans for further expansion in 2021.
