After more than 30 years of providing dance and fitness classes in different venues around Warrington, Northern Starr has a new permanent home at Culcheth Sports Club.

The dance school, which has been running out of school and community halls for three decades, has been closed for face to face classes during the latest national lockdown.

It was unable to provide real life sessions when restrictions were eased in October and November last year with some buildings in the town remaining closed.

Northern Starr Dance and Fitness relied on the facilities at Culcheth Sports Club on Charnock Road and following extensive renovations, it is now the company’s new base.

There is a large dance studio complete with a stage, lighting and a mirror wall as well as a smaller studio for ballet, yoga and yoga trapeze with work underway on the new music room.

Warrington Guardian:

Alex Lee, studio manager, said: “The majority of the work was completed by local small businesses with many donating their time free and our dancers also got their hands dirty.

“It has been a true labour of love but has shown what a community can achieve when they work together.”

The doors were opened for the first time on Monday, as lockdown restrictions eased, allowing organised classes and activities for children under 18 to take place.
